“Into the Horizon” DCDSB Student Art Exhibit at the Robert McLaughlin Gallery
Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) is pleased to announce the 2025 student art exhibit at the Robert McLaughlin Gallery (RMG). DCDSB’s student art show, Into the Horizon, will be available for the public to view free-of-charge from February 28, 2025, until March 16, 2025. This year’s show features over 100 pieces of artwork created by students in Kindergarten to Grade 12.
Schools across the DCDSB submitted student work to be part of the exhibit. The art on display includes various mediums such as paintings, sculptures, photography, charcoal, digital artwork and more.
“The DCDSB Into the Horizon exhibit celebrates the creativity of our students, and we are very proud of their work,” said Jim Wilson, Superintendent of Education. “This exhibit is a fantastic opportunity for our Durham Catholic families and community members to come together to celebrate the efforts of our student artwork."
Adrianna S., a Grade 8 student from St. Bridget Catholic School is excited to share her artwork with friends and family. “I’m absolutely thrilled to have my art exhibited at the Robert McLaughlin Gallery,” Adrianna said. “I’m very excited to see my artwork displayed alongside the work of other students who share the same passion for art as I do.” Adrianna submitted a charcoal sketch of Harry Potter, which was inspired by recent class readings, as well as a painting of a mystical dragon in vibrant acrylics on canvas.
Leila Timmins, Senior Curator at the RMG is proud to be hosting DCDSB student artwork again at the Gallery. “We’d like to congratulate all the students featured in this year’s Into the Horizon exhibition. The works are phenomenal,” Leila said. “We encourage students and their families to visit the gallery to see this amazing installation in person.”
The DCDSB and the RMG would like to recognize the dedicated educators and staff who have nurtured student creativity and expression, making this exhibit possible. We would like to express our gratitude to the students involved for sharing their talents.
