St. Anne's Grade 6 Students Explore Indigenous Ways of Knowing
Posted On Monday January 15, 2024
On January 15, Trent University's TRACKS (Trent Aboriginal Cultural Knowledge and Science) program visited Grade 6 classes at St. Anne Catholic School.
Offered through Trent University, TRACKS facilitates dynamic, land-based youth programming that braids multiple scientific approaches by centring Indigenous ways of knowing and being.
The students really enjoyed the interactivity and cross connections between western and traditional Indigenous knowledge.
"After the session the kids were talking this morning, they were all talking about the tasks and how to identify the foods and what points they received. They had a lot of fun!"
- Tara Lynn-Yellowly, Grade 6 teacher, St. Anne Catholic School
