Over the past year, a new wing was built at St. Anne Catholic School that created an additional 184 student spaces, through the support of a $4.8 million investment from the Ontario Government. The new addition at St. Anne Catholic School in Oshawa opened on Monday, January 8, 2024, and students and staff are now using the new classrooms.

“The addition of eight new classrooms at the school provides much needed student spaces in north Oshawa, where the Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) has seen incredible growth over the past few years,” said Monique Forster, Chair of the DCDSB Board of Trustees. “This addition is designed to provide enhanced learning spaces and accommodate more students, ensuring a positive and enriching educational environment.”

Key Features of the Addition:

  1. State-of-the-Art Classrooms: The expansion includes modern classrooms equipped with the latest educational technology to facilitate innovative and collaborative learning experiences.
  2. Increased Capacity: With the addition of new classrooms and washroom facilities, St. Anne Catholic School can further accommodate the growing student population, ensuring that every child in our community has access to high-quality learning environments.

Scott Grieve, Superintendent of Business, Finance and Facilities, said, "We are excited to open the new addition at St. Anne Catholic School to better serve our students in north Oshawa. We are committed to providing the best possible education for our students and ensuring that our schools can adapt to the evolving needs of our growing communities.

Steven Beltrano, Principal of St. Anne Catholic School, added, "The new facilities offer an exciting opportunity for our students to learn and grow. We look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on their educational journey."

In recognition of the completion of the addition, an official opening and blessing will be planned for February 2024. Families and community members will be provided with an opportunity to explore the new facilities at that time. Further details about the community celebration will be shared in the coming weeks.
